Infantry Radios

The names for the infantry radios begin with either Torn or Feld. Torn is short for Tornister, which means backpack. Feld means Field. Both types are backpack radios but the Feld is used to denote the smaller short range radios.

The second part of the name is Fu. This is short for Funkgeräte or radio set.

To further differentiate the radios is a suffix, i.e. a/b/f etc. These are not used to indicate the date of introduction but rather the frequency range they operate on. So there are charts with references to multiple radios which nearly identical visually.
