1. Mission of the division:

Defense of the coast by preventing a landing and by throwing landed parties back into the sea. Putting out of action air borne troops.

   The missions of commanders under the control of the division were identical. The 21.Pz.Div. was placed under the tactical control of the 716 Div. for the event that an attack would take place. This divison was located south of the 716 Div.

   The preparation for an attack was timed in accordance with the various alarm phrases, the exact designation of which I do not recall. The appointment of street commanders, confiscation of additional trucks to reinforce the rear area and similar measures were, as I recall, timed.
